Children are children, so for those of you staying in a group home, there is some noise. They will be fascinated by you and want your attention. Even though you don’t speak the language, they understand hugs and smiles.
In-country transportation: The drivers are excellent, vehicles are current . (There will always be an English speaking person with you.)
What to Pack
Casual and versatile clothing (business casual). Women may wear slacks for almost any occasion. Ties, suits and dressy clothes are not needed.
Comfortable shoes – good walking shoes, and a pair appropriate for the camp
Weather at the camp is cooler than in Bucharest. Plan to bring a sweater, sweatshirt or jacket – layers work very well.
A converter will be necessary if you bring chargers, laptops, razors, etc. Travel stores (e.g., Radio Shack, etc.) have converter plugs available at a reasonable price.
House slippers – it is Romanian custom to take off your street shoes when you enter a home. Shoes are left inside the door.
Luggage- use what you normally take, but you may want to pack a small backpack for the trip to the camp; no need to carry larger bags.
